ASTRONOMICAL OBSERVATORY BELGRADE
The Space National Contact Point function in Serbia is implemented through the Astronomical Observatory Belgrade, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia, which coordinates Horizon Europe activities at the national level.
Founded in 1887, the Astronomical Observatory Belgrade is one of the oldest scientific institutions in Serbia. Its core expertise is in astronomy and astrophysics, while its activities have recently expanded towards astronautics, space science and related interdisciplinary fields.
The Serbian space landscape is still developing, but it is becoming increasingly dynamic. Several Serbian companies, mostly SMEs, have already demonstrated expertise in space-related technologies and services, while a growing number of private companies are entering this area. Research institutes and faculties, particularly from the University of Belgrade, also actively participate in Horizon Europe space calls, contributing scientific and technical expertise to international consortia.
